The Bahau people are a sub-ethnic group of the Dayak people, who mostly inhabit East Kalimantan and some areas in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. Most Dayaks have still a form of native religious practice viewed by Western standards as a pagan religion because of its shamanic rituals. This old shaman’s sculpture depicting an anthropomorphic figure shows scarifications on the body and one hand holding a small sword-like motif. Dark brown patina.
